How do I reserve a puppy?
Through a puppy reserve contract and deposit payment, your puppy will be reserved until they are 7 weeks of age. If the puppy is to be shipped to their new home, they have to be 8 weeks of age. Full payment of puppy is expected when picked up or before shipping reservations can be made. If there is not an agreement to hold the puppy longer than referenced above, the puppy will be listed as available and the deposit will not be refunded. |

How do you potty train a puppy?
The only way we potty train is using a crate. When the puppy is in the house and we are not interacting with them, they are put into the crate. At night during sleeping hours, the puppy is crated. Initially, there may be some accidents since their bladder is not that big but the puppy will instinctively not want to soil their sleeping area.
While the puppy is out in the house, we'll set a timer anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how long we know the puppy can go without using the restroom. When the buzzer goes off, the puppy goes out. This is a great reminder for you!!! If you have set the timer for 45 minutes and the puppy has an accident in the home, reduce the time interval to 30 minutes until the puppy has been successful many times then try increasing the time interval again. You want to give your new puppy the best opportunity for success. As you already know or are finding out, the APBT is a very devoted animal wanting to always please their master. |

How much is the puppy deposit?
The puppy deposit is a nonrefundable payment that is half of the total cost of the puppy. For example, if the puppy is listed as $900 then the deposit payment is $450. This money is nonrefundable. The only exception to this is in the event the puppy is not available for health reasons. |

What is puppy proofing?
Puppy proofing is figuring out the room(s) in your home where you hang out the most. This is the area where the puppy needs to 'live with you.' They do not want to be shoved out in the garage by themselves or chained in the backyard. You will find that where you are, they are. Their eyes will not leave you!!! So, with that understood, you have selected the room(s) where you spend the majority of time.
Baby gates are a Godsend!!! Partition off the room(s) so that the puppy cannot wonder outside the selected area. In this area, you should not have anything within the puppy's reach that can't take a scratch or accidentally be soiled on. We all want the perfect puppy and the APBT puppy will try their hardest BUT they are learning and with that will make mistakes that need your correction and guidance. SO BE PREPARED!!
In this area, have all cords out of reach. You should not leave your shoes lying about or anything else that may be mistaken as the puppy's. If you are not sure on this, the puppy will let you know when they proudly present you with this item chewed upon. The puppy should have their toys available so that they have chewing options available to them.
As with a toddler, you need to think as they would in creating a safe learning environment. |

What is the most important consideration with a new puppy?
A tired puppy is a good puppy. It will take time and effort on your part in creating a well-mannered adult dog and this applies to most breeds. Expect to exercise your dog on a daily basis. This can consist of walks in the park to playing fetch in the backyard. Your APBT will adore you for the time spent together!!!! Plus, they will be much more behaved since they have had an outlet for releasing all that doggie energy. This is a better option than allowing them to destroy something in the home. |

What recommendations do you have for training our new APBT puppy?
Socialization is very important for all puppies. We highly recommend participating in a puppy obedience-training course at one of your local pet stores. The major pet chains all offer this service, check with them for schedules and costs. This type of training not only helps your new puppy but will also help you to understand the consistency needed in how you communicate with your puppy and in setting your puppies expectations. This will be an enjoyable experience as much for you as the puppy.
There are also various classes beyond the puppy obedience-training that are good options for you both. Check the options and schedules at your local facilities. |

What toys are the best?
As a young APBT, there are many toy options available but as you will quickly learn, the toys must be durable if they are to last. We will introduce toys to the puppies around 4 to 5 weeks of age when we start the weaning process. By 8 to 12 weeks of age, they can put a hurt to most available toys so we tend to stick with rope toys and the very durable Kong in black color (this one has a 100% money back guarantee if destroyed).
Your puppy will need their own toys so that they don't take over various items in your household as their own. They will test other items so be prepared to correct them, and then give them the appropriate toy that is theirs.
One very important task is puppy proofing their primary area in your home. |

When can I get my puppy?
You can pick up your puppy at 7 weeks. If the puppy is to be shipped, they must be 8 weeks of age.
|
| |
Will you ship the puppy?
We'll be happy to coordinate shipping of your puppy. We do not make any profit from shipping. The cost of shipping will cover the airfare, kennel and health papers that our veterinarian has to prepare. We can give you an estimate of shipping costs upon request. Temperature and airport restrictions may apply.
Important note in regards to picking up a shipped puppy!!!
Bring damp and dry towels, when picking up your new APBT puppy from the airport. The puppy has to be dropped off by us 2 hours prior to departure and is secured in the kennel. The puppy may have to connect to a second plane in making their new home destination. This could add up to 8+ hours in the secured crate. There are not many puppies that can go without going for that long. So they may be a little messy when they arrive. We try our very best to get the quickest flight from Nashville, TN to your local airport. |
